Wheeler Co. to get relief funds from American Rescue Plan

Oregon State Senator Lynn Findley (R-Vale) announced today that federal relief funds are on the way for several Oregon counties. Senator Findley said that the 30th Senate District will get an estimated $69 Million. The State of Oregon is likely to receive more than $4 Billion.

Among those counties to receive COVID relief funds is Wheeler County. It is expected that Wheeler County will receive $260,000.

By city, it is estimated that Fossil will receive $89,000; Mitchell $24,664 and Spray $30,167.

Funding will be earmarked for specific budget shortfalls that counties have faced such as:

  • Responding to the COVID-19 public health emergency;
  • Providing premium pay to essential workers;
  • Offsetting lost revenues to provide essential government services;
  • For water, sewer and broadband infrastructure
