Virtual Forum for Gilliam Co. Commissioner tonight

The Times-Journal will host a virtual forum for the Gilliam County Commissioner election on Thursday, October 15 at 5 PM. The virtual forum will be streamed live on Facebook.

Incumbent Leslie Wetherell and challenger Pat Shannon are vying for the Gilliam Co. Commissioner #2 seat, with a term of four years.

The partisan race will be the last for Gilliam County. In the May 2020 primary election, Gilliam Co. voters approved of a move to non-partisan elections in 2022.

Leslie Wetherell (D – Arlington) was elected as Gilliam Co. Commissioner #2 in 2016. Wetherell has a Bachelor of Arts Philosophy, Politics and Economics from Eastern Oregon Univ. Wetherell’s background in public work includes six years as Administrator for the City of Arlington and ten years as Administrator for the N. Gilliam Co. Cemetery District. Wetherell’s primary employment has been at the Maryhill Museum of Art, where she has Operations and Finance Manager for 14 years.

Pat Shannon (R-Arlington) is the Republican candidate for Gilliam Co. Commissioner. Shannon is a businessman and is the owner of two restaurants in Arlington: Pat’s Pheasant Grill and the Rivers Edge BBQ and Deli. Shannon is also a dealer for U-Haul. Shannon is a graduate of Condon High School.

The virtual forum will start at 5 PM. To join, Click This Link.
