Wheeler Co. Judge Lynn Morley survives recall election

The preliminary numbers released by the Wheeler County Clerk’s office shows that Judge Lynn Morley will keep his job.

Voters opted to vote “no” on the recall by nearly 2 to 1. A total of 622 votes were tallied, with 405 (65%) voting down the recall.

The biggest voting precinct to vote “no” in the recall was in the Fossil precinct. There, 82% of voters said the Mr. Morley should stay in office.

Mitchell was the lone precinct to vote for the recall. A small majority of voters there voted “yes” to recall Judge Morley, at 56% of the vote.

In Spray, 102 people cast a “no” vote, making up 55% of the ballots cast.

The result means that Judge Lynn Morley will not be recalled and will serve the remainder of his term, until December 31, 2022.
