4-H International Club preps for trip

By Cora Munkers, 4-H Student Reporter

T-minus 60 some days until we are Costa Rica bound. Time is moving fast as we get closer to our departure date. At the January 5th meeting, President Adam Gibson brought the meeting to order at 12:35. Max Wilson led the group in the Pledge of Allegiance and Caydence Wade led the 4-H Pledge.

Our Leaders told the group that between can sorting, tree sales, and helping at the Elks Annual Dinner, the club raised over $3,600. Great job everyone! Leader Gary handed out the medical travel forms that will need to be returned at the February meeting. He also wants us to get two color copies of our passport – one to give to him for safe keeping during our trip and one to leave at home, just in case our passport is lost on the trip. We then had a surprisingly lively discussion concerning our travel attire, finally deciding on a grey rash guard with an optional bucket hat. As we get closer to our trip, our Leaders would like to remind everyone that it is EXTREMELY important to make it to the next two meetings and parents are strongly encouraged to attend. Our next meeting will be February 9th.

On to Travel News for Costa Rica. Current weather conditions have highs in the low 80's and lows in the low 70's with lots of rain. On our third day in Costa Rica, we will embark on a white-water rafting excursion on the Sarapiquí River. The Sarapiquí River has both class 3 and class 4 rapids making it a fun river for both beginners and experts. With the river running through the rainforest, we expect to see all sorts of animals – I'm hoping for a monkey!
