Rodeo Roundup

As the fall rodeo season concludes, the area is well represented in the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association standings.

In the Northwest Region, Condon's Kade Wilkins is leading the way.. The Walla Walla Community College freshman is sitting 2nd in the Steer Wrestling and 8th in the Tie Down. Gracie Garthwaite, another Freshman from Condon is sitting 4th in Barrel Racing and 11th in Goat Tying. She is representing Blue Mountain Community College.

Rodeoing in the Grand Canyon Region for New Mexico State, Spray's Nate Clark is 4th in the Steer Wrestling. Also representing Wheeler County is Oran Davis, Mitchell. He is rodeoing for College of Southern Idaho in the Rocky Mountain Region, where he sits 12th in the Tie Down Roping.

Others with family in the area includes Joslyn Arnold, representing the Hardie/Dyer families. Rodeoing for Walla Walla, the Glenwood, WA native is holding down 2nd in the Goat Tying and is 16th in the nation. She is the great-granddaughter of Donna Hardie, Condon. Lauren Riney of LaGrande, granddaughter of the late Condon native Steve Riney, is going to school at the University of Idaho. She is 6th in Barrel Racing. Jett Stewart, grandson of Skye and Penny Krebs of Willow Creek is representing the Southwest Region and Weatherford College in Texas, and ends the fall run in 11th in the Team Roping Heading. Heppner's Hunter Greenup is in the top spot in the Bareback Riding, representing BMCC. He is 8th in the national standings. Shane Scott, Prineville, is sitting 3rd in the Southwest Region Bull Riding and 18th in the nation-wide standings. The Western Texas State freshman was a first round draft pick for the Professional Bull Riders new team format by the Texas Rattlers.
