Calvin Bennett joins Representative Greg Smith as Chief of Staff

Bennett is a graduate of Mitchell High School in Wheeler County

SALEM, OR – Representative Greg Smith (R-Heppner) is pleased to welcome Calvin Bennett to his legislative team. Bennett succeeds Dawson Quinton, who served in Representative Smith's office for three and a half years. Bennett will continue in Mr. Quinton's footsteps by playing a crucial role in shaping legislative priorities and working on key initiatives for District 57.

Calvin Bennett graduated from Mitchell High School and Eastern Oregon University (EOU). While at EOU, Bennett was a double major in Business Administration and Marketing with a minor in Political Science. During Bennett's senior year, he served as President of the Associated Students of Eastern Oregon University and saw Representative Smith's impact in the capitol firsthand. Stating, "Representative Smith's significance in Salem is truly unique. He is someone who everyone looks up to in the capitol and it is a deep honor to work with him."

"I am so incredibly excited to get to work alongside Calvin this session. He has an impressive resume, honest character, and it does not hurt that he is from one of my favorite small towns in Oregon" stated Representative Smith.

Representative Greg Smith was recently elected to serve his thirteenth term as a State Representative, making him the longest-serving member in the Oregon Legislature, as well as the 4th longest-serving State Representative in Oregon history. He holds a gavel as the Co-Chair of the Joint Ways and Means Subcommittee on General Government. Representative Smith also serves as the Co-Vice Chair of the full Joint Ways and Means Committee. Representative Greg Smith is a Republican who represents the entirety of Morrow, Gilliam, Sherman, Wheeler, and Wasco counties, and portions of Clackamas, Jefferson, Marion, and Umatilla Counties.
