Letter to the Editor: Kip Krebs

This year was the 5th A Town Throw Down Basketball Tournament. It started in 2019 (no tournament in 2020 due to Covid-19). This year we had a total of 13 Teams. 3 Middle School, 6 High School, and 4 Adult teams.

Results:

Middle School Division (10-13yo)

1st place was the girls team from Echo, Echo Storm. These girls won $150, champion T-shirts, and etched champion hydro flasks. 2nd Place was the boys team, Shake N' Fake, from Condon. They won $100. 3rd place was the Coed team from Arlington, Yoda Best, they won $50. 3 point contest winner was Matison Hendrix of Echo. She made (5) 3 point baskets in 30 seconds winning the pot of $100.

High School Division (14-18yo)

1st place was the boys team from Boardman, B Town Ballers. They won $200, champion T-shirts, and etched champion hydro flasks. 2nd place was the boys team, Fairview Freshmen, of Ione. They won $150. 3rd place was the boys team, Condon Wheat City Hoopsters, they won $50. 3 point contest winner was Jeremias Calvillo of Boardman. He made (4) 3 point baskets in 30 seconds winning the pot of $60.

Adult Division (19+yo)

1st place was the boys team from Irrigon, The Blazers. They won $150, champion T-shirts, and etched champion hydro flasks. 2nd place was the boys team from Arlington, Team USA. They won $100. 3rd place was the boys team from Goldendale, Killer 3's. They won $50. 3 point contest winner was Jed Knight of Arlington. He made (4) 3 point baskets in 30 seconds winning the pot of $70.

This year's tournament sponsors are Graybeal Group of Hermiston (Champion t-shirts), Oregon Frontier Chamber of Commerce of Condon (Champion hydro flasks), and the Port of Arlington. All tournament players received Wednesday night rodeo tickets to Hermiston's Farm City Pro Rodeo courtesy of Sherrell Chevrolet of Hermiston.

Next year's A Town Throw Down 3x3 Basketball Tournament will be July 26th, 2025. The tournament will be adding another age division called the Senior/Parent & Child Division. This will be open to all people and parents ages 40 and older.
