Solid turnout, good fun at A-Town 3 on 3 and Show N' Shine Car Show

The Port of Arlington's A-Town Throwdown 3 on 3 basketball tournament and the Port of Arlington's Show 'N Shine Car Show was held last Saturday.

It was a pinch yourself, I might be dreaming kind of day as temperatures hovered in the low 80s with an overcast sky.

Both events had a smaller turnout than last year, but organizers were expecting as much due to the wildfires in the area.

The A-Town Throw Down 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament was played on the basketball courts by the Port of Arlington Marina. The Port of Arlington resurfaced the courts in 2022. Dozens of spectators lounged in the grass and took in the leisurely afternoon.

Due to popular demand, a Middle School division was added to this year's tournament and participants came from Helix to Goldendale "and everywhere in between," said Kip Krebs who has organized the tournament for the past few years.

Krebs, who is on the board of directors at the Port of Arlington, said that total teams were slightly down from last year but that was to be expected with wildfires in the area.

It was the same story for the Arlington Show 'N Shine Car Show. All in attendance had a good time, with food booths and an artisans market popping up by vintage and modern cars.

Proud owners stood by and talked nuts and bolts with passersby – though there were fewer contestants this year.

Organizer Katie Re, who is an Ambassador with the Oregon Frontier Chamber of Commerce, said that wildfires were a factor and several people had to pull out. Still, with the cool weather, those who made it had a very good time.
