Arlington hosts Show N' Shine, 3 on 3 Basketball this Saturday

Arlington is set for a big weekend as the Show N' Shine car show and A-Town Throw Down, 3 on 3 basketball tournament will be held at Earl Snell Park on Saturday, July 27.

The weather is going to cooperate. According to the forecast, temperatures are set to cool this week and Arlington will have a high of 88 degrees on Saturday. This will make for ideal conditions for a car show and for basketball games.

The Arlington Show N' Shine car show is one of the best in the region. Shaded by trees at Earl Snell Memorial Park, and with views of the marina – the event offers a relaxed feel with food vendors and activities for kids such as the hula hoop contest, cornhole and duck races.

In recent years, the car show has attracted a wider and wider audience. Cars from throughout the Pacific Northwest make the trek.

The event is sponsored by the Oregon Frontier Chamber of Commerce.

It isn't too late to register your car. Registration can be done in advance, or on Saturday from 8 AM – 11 AM.

Judging starts at Noon, and awards are given at 2:30 PM.

Expect to see everything from cherry hot-rods to rat-rods, and contemporary modified cars.

Also on Saturday, the Port of Arlington is sponsoring the A-Town Throwdown – the popular 3 on 3 basketball tournament that also takes place at Earl Snell Park.

This event has also grown in popularity each year.

Kip Krebs, a board member at the Port of Arlington, has helped to organize the tournament for several years.

This year, there will be three age divisions – a Middle School Division (10-13 year olds), High School Division (14-18 year olds), and an Adult Division (19 years and older).

Krebs had to cap the entrees to 8 teams per age division.

There will also be a 3-point contest this year.

This is a fun event for the whole family – we'll see you there.
