Spray resident Diana Kirkham told the Times-Journal that she had just returned to Spray today and saw heavy smoke moving quickly towards the town.

"I saw the smoke coming over the ridge and we had a strong southern wind come up, and it just brought it down," Kirkham said.

After quickly gathering some items, she left town with her husband. "I didn't even get the chickens," Kirkham said. We decided not to worry about it and to just get going."
