Area youth excel at Oregon High School Rodeo Finals

Gracie Garthwaite wins Champion, Reserve Champion awards in final year

The Columbia Basin High School Rodeo Club was well represented at the 2024 Oregon High School Rodeo Finals held last weekend in Prineville.

Condon's Gracie Garthwaite led the way, bringing home the Champion Goat Tying saddle and was also named the Reserve Champion Barrel Racer. Gracie will represent Oregon at the National High School Rodeo Finals with top four finishes in Goat Tying and Barrel Racing. She will compete for Blue Mountain Community College next year.

Brycen Martin, North Powder, ended up the #3 Saddle Bronc rider for the year. Sister Reagan Martin earned 4th place in Pole Bending. Brycen was named the Teskey's Top Hand.

Steer Wrestling action found Arlington's Colt Gronquist finishing the year in 8th place with cousin Kade Wilkins, Condon, in 9th place.

Wheeler County was represented by Molly Davis in 7th in Goat Tying. Oran Davis held on to a 9th place finish in tie down roping.

Two weeks earlier, Matthew Tucker, Arlington rode to the Junior High Division 4th place in Bull Riding.
