Matt Davis wins Wheeler County Commissioner election

Matt Davis will be the next Wheeler County Commissioner. Davis won the primary election in Wheeler County, with 61.6% of the vote. By eclipsing 51%, Davis wins the election outright and will be sworn into office in January.

Matt Davis is a graduate of Spray High School and later attended the University of Oregon. Davis returned to Wheeler County with his wife, Coco, and their two daughters in 2018. Davis began working as the county's Planning Director that year, but later became the Community Development Director. In that role, Davis has helped to facilitate economic development activities for the county. In this capacity, Davis has helped to bring more than $4 million in funding for public projects in the county. Through these efforts, he has also developed working relationships with partners in state and federal government, as well as in private partnerships.

In addition to these duties, Matt Davis has also been active on a number of boards and in volunteer efforts. He also helped to lead the Co-Starters entrepreneurship classes, that helped several small businesses to get off the ground.
