People I want to thank 1) Steve Allen for putting our letters in the paper 2) The voters of Gilliam County for their thoughtful listening 3) The 100’s of people who signed our Recall petitions in record time 4) The people who said they would vote Yes but couldn't put their names on a petition 5) Especially the big group of people who supported our efforts both financially and through their hours of dedicated work 6) The many citizens who wrote letters and testified before the Senate Judiciary Committee 7) ALL the past and present County officials who have supported our efforts on rescinding order 2023-01 8) ALL of the hundreds of citizens of the other 5 counties who stood up to keep their vote 9. Last, but not least, I want to give a big shout out to Rod and Lori McGuire for serving the best coffee and finger food you could imagine at our meetings.
To the County Court I want to say, shame on you for putting our County through all this divisiveness. You, in the end, couldn't bamboozle Floyd Prozanski Senate Chair of the Judiciary Committee. You couldn't bamboozle Representative Mark Owen or Representative Greg Smith when they saw through your ruse. You couldn't bamboozle the citizens of the other 5 counties. Together hundreds of citizens along with the nearly unanimous support of current and past County Judge's and Commissioner's defeated your attempted structural dismantling of county government not only in our county but five other counties.
Now we will see if scare tactics, intimidation, and fear mongering will bamboozle our Gilliam county voters. Our County Treasurer presented a budget calendar to our court on April 10th. This Court and this Court alone will be responsible for any disruption in the budget process.
