Sending the right leaders to Salem is critical for us in Eastern Oregon. We have to elect representatives who are ready to do the job from Day 1 as effective advocates for our values and our communities.
We have the opportunity in May to elect Dave Drotzmann to the State Senate, and I’m confident he’s prepared for the task. I’ve seen Dave in action for many years now, putting his principles of local control, conservative values, and compassionate leadership to work to benefit all of us.
As the League of Oregon Cities (LOC) president this legislative session, Dave helped push forward a complete rewrite of Measure 110 by working with public safety leaders to bring back accountability and responsibility. He has earned the support of many law enforcement leaders, including Gilliam County Sheriff Gary Betancourt and Wheeler County Sheriff Mike Smith.
This advocacy comes from a place of experience. As a business owner he knows the challenges of meeting payroll and recruiting new employees. As a mayor he has worked to bring in nearly 1,000 new housing units to Hermiston over the past decade to keep up with demand. As a health care provider he understands the need to protect Medicare for seniors and provide better education opportunities to bring providers to rural communities.
For these reasons and many more Dave was elected as the first LOC president from Eastern Oregon in over 20 years. He’s already hard at work for our communities, and we can make sure he’s able to continue doing that work.
I’m proud to be voting for Dave Drotzmann for State Senate.
