Letter to the Editor: Walter Powell

To the Editor:

A couple of weeks ago, I received an anonymous letter, as did other postal patrons.

1. If a letter is worth paying the postage for, it is worth signing. If you don’t wish to sign, then don’t send.

2. Refrain from capitalizing all of the letters in a sentence. We are not discussing the end of time as we know it. This is a worn and overused tactic.

3. Past County Judge discussion: with respect for all, one has been retired coming on eighteen years, one coming on twelve years, and one ran for reelection, and lost. There are other options I would think.

4. Any of the above, if involved in the recall efforts, should withdraw from consideration for an appointment to the position of County Judge.

5. Can a budget be put in place, then revisited in the future? Yes. But Individuals continue to either downplay impact, or blow out of proportion impact, dependent on the need for their position at any point in time.

6. Restructuring of county administration talk has been taking place for many years. There is no conspiracy. The conversation related to restructuring will continue, as required to meet the needs of the County.

To the voters, listen, then sort out the chaff.

1. Don’t be played.

2. Please reject any lack of civility in discourse. Lack of civility trivializes the conversation.

3. Please accept that nothing happening here is the end of time for Gilliam County. We will get up the day after the election and move on with our lives. And so it goes.

Walter Powell, Condon
