Letter to the Editor:
With the May primary election fast approaching, we as voters have the opportunity to elect new leaders who will bring fiscal responsibility to Oregon politics. That is why I am supporting Dave Drotzmann for state senator.
As a small business owner, Dave understands the struggle of Oregonians working to afford everyday expenses like groceries, medication, and housing in the face of record inflation. We need leaders in Salem who will hold our government accountable for every dollar it spends, without adding more taxes on families and businesses already agonizing over how to make ends meet.
During his time as Hermiston mayor, Dave has overseen investments to grow the city’s economy, creating a business-friendly environment that in turn has produced more family-wage jobs for citizens to thrive. Under Dave’s leadership, Hermiston now has 2,000 new houses in the building pipeline, and has created 1,200 jobs in the last 12 months. Local wages have also risen 54% during his terms.
Dave knows that, when businesses are allowed to succeed, it means communities will benefit through reduced poverty and a higher overall standard of living. His focus is to make sure businesses of all sizes have the tools they need to compete in regional and global markets, providing incentives for them to stay and invest locally.
Dave will bring this mindset to Salem, advocating strongly for sensible and transparent spending on projects and programs that will make Oregon a better place to live and do business.
Vote for Dave in the Republican primary on May 21.
Sincerely,
Paul Keefer
Mayor, City of Boardman
