ARLINGTON – Governor Tina Kotek announced on March 6, 2024, that Kari Hayter has been appointed as the Gilliam County Justice of the Peace, effective June 1, 2024. Hayter, currently serving as the City Recorder for the City of Arlington, brings a wealth of experience and dedication to public service.
Governor Kotek expressed confidence in Hayter's capabilities, stating, "Kari Hayter is a dedicated public servant and will work hard to meet the needs of the community. I look forward to her service as Gilliam County Justice of the Peace."
Having joined the City of Arlington in 2021, Hayter previously held roles as Staff Accountant and Director of Operations. Beyond her municipal service, she holds Oregon licenses as a Tax Consultant and Enrolled Agent, showcasing her expertise in financial matters. Additionally, Hayter has demonstrated her commitment to education and community involvement by serving as the Board Chair for Arlington School District #3 since 2019. Her active participation on the North Central Educational Service District Budget Committee further highlights her engagement in educational matters.
Notably, Hayter has also contributed to the local sports community as the past Treasurer of the Arlington Little League. With a track record of diverse professional roles and community engagement, Kari Hayter is poised to bring her multifaceted skills to the role of Gilliam County Justice of the Peace, serving the community with dedication and commitment.
