Condonites old and new asked to weigh in on town's future

Condon CAN! That is the rallying cry being used to talk about the coming years and decades in Condon.

Initiated by the City of Condon, the effort looks to develop a long-term vision for the town.

The City of Condon partnered with Rural Development Initiatives, a regional rural development organization that works hand-in-hand with communities to strengthen rural people, places, and economies in the Pacific Northwest.

Rural Development Initiatives (RDI) has helped towns like Othello, Washington to do similar long-term planning exercises. RDI does a number of things, but their core goal is to help create an inclusive experience for engagement.

Residents of Condon, as well as those who once lived in the town or who regularly visit are being asked to weigh-in.

To start, folks are being asked to complete a survey to get information about what people like, don't like, and want to see in the future. It is designed to give everyone a chance to think about the town from the past, the present, and what they want for the future.

So far, participation has been a bit low and there is a push to get 250 responses by early March.

To take the survey on your phone, open the QR code with your camera.

A community meeting is scheduled for March 18 from 5-8 PM and a second on May 13 from 5-8 PM.
