Oregon Dept. of Education to hold listening session on Aug. 17

Parents and students can ask state officials of facemask requirements

The Oregon Department of Education will hold a special listening session on Tuesday, August 17th at 6 PM. The Facebook Live event will explain ODE’s requirement of facemasks in the 2021-22 school year and will give parents a chance to ask questions.

Last week, Oregon Governor Kate Brown made the announcement. The Oregon Health Authority (OHA) adopted a statewide rule requiring face coverings for all individuals two years and older in all indoor school settings (both public and private). This rule defines schools as a public, private, parochial, charter or alternative educational program offering kindergarten through grade 12 or any part thereof.

Parents and community members are being encouraged to submit questions in advance and can do so by clicking here.
