Your Lady Huskies took to the court on Wednesday night to take on the Cardinals of Ione in a thrilling league matchup.
Sherman jumped out to an early lead in the first set before the Cardinals came charging back. Sherman would eventually take the first set twenty—five to twenty. Set number two picked up right where the first ended. Both teams fought hard in a back-and-forth match. Sherman eventually put Ione up against the ropes leading twenty-four to twenty-one before the Cardinals clawed their way back—fighting off 3 game points—and surging ahead defeating the Huskies 26-24.

With the match tied one game apiece Ione started off the third set with a bang, and Sherman firing right back. Both teams took turns holding the lead before Ione pulled away putting the Sherman backs up against the wall. Sherman fought off five game points before Ione secured the lead winning 25-21. After three sets Ione leads two games to Sherman’s one.
Game four is a must win for Sherman. Sophomore Kaelex Peters started off with two aces. Sherman rallied behind her for two more points and Kaelex again serves two aces before Ione gets possession—trailing by six. With the help of some great Sherman serves the huskies remain in control of the entire fourth set forcing a fifth and final set as they defeat Ione twenty-five to twenty.
The fifth and final game saw the Cardinals start with the serve, and Sherman immediately gets a side out and goes up 3-0. Once the huskies got the lead, they didn’t let up eventually leading by as much as seven (11-4). Sherman still leading by seven (12-5) came out on top of a long and competitive rally, followed by a string of unanswered points by the cardinals to bring the Sherman lead to four. With the score getting close the Huskies eventually put the game away with a fifteen to 10 victory. Sherman moves to six and 4 overall (three and three in league).
Next up your Lady Huskies travel to Damascus Christian for the Eagle Invitational this Saturday the 2nd of October.
