  • Condon Arts Council honors Gilliam SWCD with steelhead mural

    The first mural in Condon was painted last week. The Condon Arts Council worked with the Center for Biological Diversity to commission the painting – which depicts two steelhead fish. The mural design was selected to honor the work of the Gilliam Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) – which has done extensive work in steelhead habitat restoration on Thirtymile Creek, Hay Creek, and Rock Creek in Gilliam County.     Cris Patnode has emerged victorious in the Primary Election for Gilliam County Judge and will be the county's next executive officer, capturing more than 61% of the vote. Patnode defeated Commissioner Leah Watkins and Condon Mayor Jim Hassing to win outright, with no need to hold a general election in the fall.     Matt Davis will be the next Wheeler County Commissioner. Davis won the primary election in Wheeler County, with 61.6% of the vote.     The Condon Blue Devils made history last week, as the boys Track and Field Team won the 1A - District 3 Championships held in Maupin. It marked the first District Championship for the Condon Men's Track and Field Team since 1971.
